Reli Smith was born in 1966. She is living and working in Tel-Aviv.
Smith is asculptor and designer.
She is a Fine Arts graduate from “Basis School”(1998).
She also studied at in the Sculpture Department at the Avni Institute of Art and Design (1993).
Earlier on, she studied privately under some notable leading Israeli artists.
Her works combine traditional materials and techniques with Contemporary Art
and Design influences.
Her recent work includes mainly clay sculptures that she creates with the Kiln method,
Raku and Post Raku pottery-making techniques.
Beforehand, her focus was sculpting from stone and casting from a range of fine metals.
Her works depict organic motifs and human portraits in combination with imagery that is inspired by various contemporary art styles. Amongst these forms and shapes, one can
see imagery that is derived from the world of childhood and play.
In her earlier works, Smith was preoccupied with superimposing calligraphy onto
three-dimensional works in the form of bronze, aluminium and iron casts.
